Jesus’ arguments against anxiety, part 6: God’s promises to his covenant people

Jesus distilled his wisdom about worry into seven simple arguments in his Sermon on the Mount. We can follow these arguments to reason our way out of anxiety, and into mental fortitude. His sixth argument is that the Gentiles, those alienated from God, may rightly be anxious to seek after food, drink, and clothing; yet God has promised to prosper his own covenant people. To be anxious is therefore to forget who we are as those under God’s blessing, seeking his kingdom.
